Art in Dialogue with Fracking – Engaging Climate Change Through the Arts

October 8, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm

Join us as CU Boulder Nature, Environment, Science & Technology (NEST) Studio for the Arts fellows discuss how they combine artistic practice with social and scientific methods in their project Invisible Disruption: The Cultural Politics of Hydraulic Fracturing in Colorado.

Photographer Shelby McAuliffe and social scientist Denise Fernandes will share how images and sounds of fracking sites at the border of Boulder and Weld counties facilitate a dialogue among the physical and cultural divisions related to this contentious practice. Workshop participants will be asked to engage in a discussion of how art can be leveraged to address critical environmental issues.
