Interwoven Banjo Vigil

A continuous three-day vigil is being held in the Arbor Institute Sept. 25-28 as a closing ritual for the Interwoven exhibition. Together, we will bear witness to the collective grief and offerings of the community that have been placed in the casket throughout the month.

Interested in participating as a vigil holder either in person or online? You are welcome to hold vigil in whatever way you would like. Meditation. Reading of Names. Poetry. Music. Movement. Personal Reflection. Ceremony. All forms are welcome. See below for the calendar to sign up.
Interwoven Community Vigil Programs

- 4pm-6pm | Fergus Stone Banjo Vigil : hymns, spirituals, folk songs
- 8am-12pm | Seated and Walking Meditation with Eon Zen Sangha
- 9am | Zen Chant Service
- 5pm-10pm | Reading of the names of extinct or dying species of plants and animals
- 5pm | Closing Invocation
Sign up to hold vigil: If you or a group you are involved with are interested in being one of the scheduled vigil holders — either in person with the casket in the Interwoven installation or virtually — please let us know the time you prefer via the calendar scheduling system below. Times are in 1 hour increments. Maximum six people in the space at one time. You are welcome to hold vigil in whatever way you would like.
All participants must follow Covid-19 precautions which will be provided by staff as part of confirming your participation.
All participants consent to live broadcast of your time in vigil in the space as well as in documentation on the Arbor Institute website and print materials.
