POETRY FOR THE PLANET
Love Letters to the Earth : Summer Solstice 2020
recorded live online | saturday June 20, 2020
We are living in extraordinary times. Existing now at the intersection of covid, climate change, and deep cultural uprising, we’re all having to reexamine where we find solace and light in our lives. What better time to connect with our deep love for our home planet than right now, and what better day to come together in community and reflection than the Summer Solstice?
On June 20th, 2020, the Arbor Institute presented one musician and six poets from the Colorado Front Range sharing their Love Letters to the Earth in round two of the Institute’s Poetry for the Planet solstice series — hosted by poet, storyteller, and activist Brice Maiurro.
This free event featured a powerhouse lineup that prioritizes BIPOC and LGBTQ+ voices as we come together to confront and change the systemic racial, gender, and social injustice at the root of the climate crisis.
We respectfully acknowledge that we performed, organized and gathered together for this event on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute People who have stewarded this land throughout generations.
